The only silly question is the one you never ask! and yeh i didnt have the thanks option for a while it must only show once you have been on the forums a certain amount of time or something? someone might be able to confirm this

I don't have a button on the end of users posts that says "thanks"...how can we check whether its available specifically for certain members?

you need to have at least 20 forum posts before the thanks feature becomes enabled for you.
