Forum signature checks

Over the coming weeks, myself and other admins will be scanning the forum for people with sigs that are too large.

If we find anyone with a sig that's too large, we will send a PM on forums.
If there is no resulting action after a week or 2, staff may edit them for you.

So please, check to make sure your sig pics are the correct size, another thing we will look for is the arrangement of the sig. For example, alot of unnecessary text, pics stacked instead of side by side etc etc.

There may be MANY admins checking this, so please dont be alarmed, or offended if you receive multiple PM's from admins

Just in case anybody is wondering if their own signatures fall within the rules or not ..

3. Signature graphics are permitted, but must follow these guidelines:

The size limits for signature graphics are as follows:

* Maximum height: 150 pixels
* Maximum width: 700 pixels
* Maximum number of images in signatures: 2

Only two image is allowed to be used in the signature. Signatures outside this limit will be edited and/or removed. Please remember, no pornographic, obscene or controversial subject matter of any kind (this includes political commentary). All content must be in good taste.

Also if you want a quick way of double checking images in your signature, the following is based on the use of Mozilla Firefox, I'm sure the options available are available in one way or another on other browsers.

Right click the image, click "copy image" then paste it into a program that can be used for any graphics manipulation, photoshop, gimp, paint.net, even ms paint would do it. Once you've copied it in, it should tell you the dimensions of the layer you've just pasted in. =)

If you are unsure, Right click your image and select view image info or image properties the pixel count is in that function.

Why are there signatures at all? I can understand signatures on boards where the theme has it so the avatar/name is on the left of the post, and then to the right is the body of the post and so through general scrolling you get to know each other's signatures and don't have to look over to the left to see who's post it is through general scrolling. But they aren't "to the left"... They're right above the post and easy to identify.

And what's the go with the STEAM thing? It's hideous, man. Does anyone use that? Can't we chuck that in the profile of people rather than clutter up the biggest thing this community has to offer (apart from servers) - the forums?

If you were to place the sigs there, you'd need to reduce the size limit from 150px height to 100px which is the same height as the avatars or it'd look hideous.

A cool divider between the 3 columns would look cool
