Mapping competition

Ok I pretty much got the idea from here:

Mapye we should have a GG Map Competion =D

But it wont be GunGame maps only. It could be jailbreak maps, minigames maps, zombie maps, or any map that suits a DtK server that we can put on.
The all contestants will be given a reasonable amount of time to make their map (2-3 months?) and submit it through a contest thread with a link to download it for viewing. The community will be given the opportunity to vote for the best maps (we could have top 10 or top 5 maps and then narrow it down?). And then the best map chosen will get to be put on the server suited for it and gets a prize.

What do you guys think? I need your feedback on this.

That's why I'm thinking we'd make it a big prize, like money or a game.

Also, can we make it that re-texturing isnt allowed?
I can just see cass being an epic nub and re-texture everything to Minecraft >.<

What would be cool is that for 2 weeks or so maybe the DTK GG server only runs the map for the comp, so that people can get a good idea what map really is best. I would say stick to one type of css game though, because it is a lot harder to judge the different map types together, so if they are all GG maps then they can be judge equally.

Couple of suggestions for ground rules.
1. Must be a solo project?
2. Allowed to use prefabs (models etc...) to an extent like maybe 1 or 2 if necessary?
And don't make it 2-3 months WAY to long to be working on a map, a decent map could be made within 2-3 weeks so I think 1 month max.

Oh yeah I didn't think about that! I think we could do best jb, gg, zm and mg. If there are any other types of maps I should include, let me know.

Personally, I think how it should work, is through separate competitions. GunGame maps are 134765x more easily fabricated than a good JB map..

The prize can be knowing that your map will be on the rotation for the server it's best suited for and knowing that you've helped the community. =)

sounds like a good idea, im about to work on a ZM map and also helping horse with another map at same time.. neither have been started ahah, but yea im up for it. prize = map on rotation and knowing you've helped the community.. and like $100000000 i reckon jokesing

Its like u can read my Mind I was Going 2 have a gg Map Comp With the exact same rules and the exact same Prize =D
Bring it on about half though my JB map ill finish that But.. Mainly Work on a gg Map Bring it on =D
