Why does it need every single person in the server to type in RTV for it rock the vote? That sounds ridiculous... the amount of times I've seen 18-20 people out of 25-27 people type in RTV is way too much, its very annoying trying to chase down the last few people to type in RTV...

Should it not be a MAJORITY vote? I honestly think it should be 60%-70% to be reasonable but really it should be 50% if 50% of the people dont like the map they should have the option to change the map.


Sorry for my rant, but we just wasted 30 mins on a server that nobody wanted where we had 2-3 guys not RTVing.. not to mention you have to kick spectators that are AFK because they have to RTV aswell. This is really annoying when there is no admin on.

I'm fairly certain the RTV requires 80% of players on the server to activate it. As for kicking people in spec ... wow really, nice way to abuse the vote system for sure .... maybe if people would actually learn to play on the maps there wouldnt be so many crying about certain maps. =)

Its not about not knowing how to play maps Becca. Its not about that, you kind of missed the point entirely. This thread is about if 20 out of 28 people dont want a certain map we should have the ability to do it, and yes we have to resort to KICKING AFK players in spec, because the system is broken thus me making a thread about it. (edit: we also make sure those spectators are actually AFK anyways before kicking them)

The RTV shouldnt even count Spectators as part of the vote does not make sense.

EDIT: im pretty sure it requires 100% vote. No were near 80%

did you ever stop to think that the people who don't rtv actually want to play the map? And ... as I said, the requirement for a successful rtv is 80%. It's the same percentage required for map votes, and votekick/slay/ban/mute etc.

Maybe if people actually start voting PROPERLY when the map vote comes up, there wouldn't be such a moaning about what map comes up.

As I said, if people actually vote PROPERLY for a map they actually want when the vote comes up, there wouldn't be so much carry on about "OH THIS MAP SUCKS RTV" then complaining when not everyone can be bothered rtv'ing.

I liken this situation to what we are talking about. Most of everyone else who has commented this thread think it is a good idea to change the rtv system. But there is always one who likes it the way it is?

And sometimes it isn't a result of bad map voting, maybe it could also be a dead server with a couple afk guys on it?

Ok but should 80% of people suffer on a map for 20%? Does that sound fair to you Becca? that means if there is 30 people on a map, there must be 24 people voting RTV to change the map, that is insanely high. Actually I always check what im voting for and try vote for a good map thats actually fun. You also disregard the fact that there is about 8 options in the voting system, lets say 7 of those are GOOD maps and 1 is bad. New players (and i knwo this because I was one at some point) just vote for anything and some actual verterans might just click a number to get it out of the way quickly forgettign to !revote, so the votes of lets say 30 people get spread out to 7 good maps but for some odd reason sometimes the majority goes to that bad map. It happens, 70% of the server MOANS, and its quite funny but it DOES happen in some situations, and then half the server leaves for 40 mins thats pretty stupid if you ask me.

Another point about what you say that those 20% of the people want to play, actually NO half the time its new players/people not paying attention to chat/noobs that dont know how to RTV. So id cut that 20% into half so were down to 3 people who genuinely WANT to stay on the map. Actually ill cut it down 2, because theres always that AFK spectator that for some ODD reason counts towards an RTV vote (stupid). This is why I want the % dropped from 80 to lets say 60 or AT LEAST 70? So far you have NOT provided a REASONABLE counter argument to what I am saying. Im arguing with logic, and something that would benefit the community and the MAJORITY of people in the long run.

Edit: Another point about your post above saying "OH THIS MAP SUCKS RTV" most of the time that does not work and only like 5-7 people vote RTV, and thats fair RTV only works when the whole server is like well screw this, most people just leave actually. That day I complained about this in the time we were trying to get people to RTV people were just giving up... server dropped from about 28 people to about 14-16... Thats bad for DTK and the community in the long run, players should have the majority power to do something about it when an admin is on. I have DTKs best interest at heart, you can ask guys like Frendy and even Fishy. I wont argue/complain about a point unless I truly believe something needs to be done.

if you pay so much attention to the options when it comes time to vote for a new map, you'd notice that the first couple of options aren't voting options, they're merely there to help combat against people donkey voting (just hitting 1 to get it out of their way) ... instead of that working as desired, there are still a LARGE amount of people, new players and veterans alike who still push any number simply to get it out of their way.
At no point did I say that YOU don't vote properly, don't read what is not there.

Also, as I've already said, if the 80% who want a "good" map wish to actually get a GOOD map when they're voting, then the 80% might actually vote PROPERLY in accordance with what they want, instead of a MINORITY of the people voting for a map only voting properly, and the MAJORITY just getting it out of their way.

There WAS a vote to slay (on jail break) until it was removed due to the option being abused.

I wouldn't mind the rtv system modified to ignore the specs. This makes more sense. Havoc, what you are saying is fair enough, as I believe the rtv percentage is 100%, not 80. Perhaps it can be looked into while I am away. 95 or 92% would probably be a better target. I remember sometimes when people want to rtv but I don't cos I actually want to play the map, which agrees with becca.
But regarding fairness, just because I want to play a map, doesn't mean everyone agrees with me. More of the server would be happier if it changed, so maybe a percent adjustment needs to take place, or the specs need to be ignored. Perhaps both?

Thanks TC. Just the way I look at it is if 20 outta 30 people want a vote they should be able to get one (currently stands at 24). Doesnt have to be 24? Its too high at that rate.

and Becca you still are not acknowledging HALF of my points and your just disregarding them. I tell you that the percentage is too high, you reply back to me about the map voting system, if you want to discuss that make a new thread and talk about "How idiots vote on the map voting system". This discussion is about the RTV vote system were it requires such a high amount of people to try and change a map. I still do not see the point in having 24 people on a server with half of them potentially leaving just because 3 people want to play (remember in my post I actually broke it down that with AFK people/spectators/people not reading chat are people not RTVing and are generally not accounted for).

Here let me add another variable for you. What if there was only 12 people on the server and 6 of them voted for a bad map, then the time hits PEAK hour and the server jumps to 24 people. Do those extra 12 people suffer in a bad map for 6 people? Do you see how flawed this logic this.

If nothing has been done about the rtv by time I come back, I will personally look into a possible and feasible move for rtv on jb.
