Has Microsoft Called Your House?

Over the past couple of months i have received over 5 phone calls from "Microsoft", saying that a virus was downloaded to my computer and that i didn't know that it was happening. Today they called again giving me this same message, the problem this time was that i was in the middle of formatting my whole computer when he called. He told me that even know that my computer was not connected to the internet and that im in the middle of installing windows that the "Virus" was being downloaded and that my computer has crashed several time this week. I asked him "How my good sir is this happening without the basic drivers installed for internet connection? Surely being a certified Microsoft Technician means that you know about the operating system itself and the basic principles behind it." The line went blank and a dial tone followed.

Once i got my pc back up and running i did a little research. Turns out that if you followed this guys instructions it would lead you to a contract that makes you pay around $200 a month to fix a problem that wasnt even there.

So please, If you get a call from Microsoft about this so called "Virus" dont listen and tell them to gtfo.

I had this once, i played dumb and sat there for an hour and a half, pretending like i was letting him do a remote desktop connection, after i ran out of excuses, i told him i ran linux. He hung up. Nub

These guys are able to trace your phone connection onto your internet somehow, i dont know much about it.
But i know a few people that have had this happen to them and in one case resulted in his internet banking details being leaked and loosing like 20K. (He got it back eventualy).

Pretty much when in doubt hang up!

I had some Indian bunch call me up a couple of months ago saying that their is a virus going around.
he told me to go on my computer and go into application viewer or something (shows when things crash)
he asked me how many crashes their was I said 25,000 ... he paused and went "OH MY GAWD" this was one of the funniest
things I had in my life, his accent the lols
So im like ok how is my PC infected? this is just saying that HL2.exe and Minecraft crashed a couple of months ago, he is like Noonnonoono
you are infected. so I just started abusing him and eventually he hung up.

yea i have gotten calls from these people before too, i told them that i dont have a legit copy of windows on any of my computers...shouldnt they be telling me to get a real version of windows before i pay for something i dont need?

one of the guys told me to type this into run

inf spyware (the spyware bit does not mean anything, it just takes you to the folder that stores all your drivers)

he asked how many files were in it: alot naturally

We get these often. I usually have fun with them and make up words to mess with them.
last one I did (this is roughly what I said, I obviously do not know what I said word for word haha)

"Oh really a virus, but I just installed a back gate lock into rcp line, I thought that might have cleared it up"
"Oh it works around that does it, but my in vitro plug as well should help shouldn't it?"
"Are you sure, I have been running my Amiga 3567 with this for awhile and I have never had this problem before"
"It is ok, Ill just get the jerry can of petrol and set my computer alight, that should kill any virus"

This happend to me the other day!! What they want to do is connect and control your computer because they "claim" there fixing it when there are actually getting your personal details

Yes i had these people call me up during the last couple of months my self, they're just asians trying to scam you into buying a really dodgy anti virus that does not even secure your computer, it installs ad-ware that makes you have to pay $200 to get rid of it.
