    Just kinda always wondered why there is no encryption?

    short answer is that there are a lot of embedded external http content on the forums. A partial https exists as we run off a WAF.

    IF/When a forum upgrade happens , the site will obviously be https however that is another discussion and it was touched upon briefly in one of the threads recently.
