you roll the dice and get a random buff or debuff

!RTD is a way of making a thing that is familiar- strange and novel by introducing a certain 'random' element to the game. At the start of the round you can "roll the dice" and you will then opt in for the chance that you will either gain an advantageous attribute (low grav, speed, etc) OR suffer a kind of disadvantage (drugged). You will probably perceive this as "fun" because though people generally seek stability and predictability through routine and organisation, there still remains a mostly hidden part of us that desires chaos and uncertainty and when we are able to safely satisfy this element of ourselves within the parameters of a 'game' we experience a pleasurable thrill from indulging this often dangerous desire as opposed to the crippling anxiety it may induce if played out in a real world environment with real consequences.
