UPDATED: 06/07/2019
We have finally finished and have released our long awaited and promised new rules for the TTT server! Understandably not all players on the server will read through all of the of the rules to look for new changes, that is why i have made this post.
In this post all major changes to the rules from the last version are listed here. Changes such as grammar, spelling mistakes and rules reworded won't be listed here but changes to gameplay and what you can do and not do as a player are. There will also be a short explanation for those rules that changed to explain what they mean and the impact of them to your gameplay.
If you have any questions regarding the new rules please feel free to ask below and I or another admin will do our best to answer them for you. We hope that these new rules will give clarity to the rules. Please remember that this post only discusses the changes made to the rules if you wish to read over the official version of the TTT rules click >>>HERE<<<
Role Objectives:
Role objectives have been slightly changed to reflect how roles are currently played. They have also been slightly altered to include how the delaying rule will be enforced which will be explained below in the delaying rule.
TTT Gamemode Rules
RDM: This rule has not changed to much but one major change is that players will now be able to defend themselves if they are being shot through smoke or other objects they cannot see through. This will be similar to how the T room rule is in that you can only shoot back while you are getting shot yourself. This does not mean you can shoot back for someone else getting shot even if they are proven, you may only return fire directed at you while you are being shot.
False KOS: Mostly this outlines what you can kos a player for and what you need to see to be allowed to call one. Changes made are that players should not ask directly if a player is KOS such as “Is Ham KOS?” This has led to False KOSes being called in the past and will mean players asking this may be punished. The other change is that players cannot bait players by starting to call a KOS when they in fact can’t. This has been used when players miss a taser and start to call a KOS to hopefully bait a reaction from the player, this will stop that being allowed to happen.
Delaying: The delaying rule itself hasn't changed that much but what it enforces has. The role objectives have been slightly altered so that now as innocent or detective you are always expected to kill or identify Traitors. In effect this means that any players withholding KOSes that they can call are delaying and can be punished for it. This means any taser results and DNA scan results need to be publicly called out, this also includes not KOSing after witnessing a traitorous act from a player.
Obscure Names: This is the same rule as before but has been clarified better for players to understand like most of the rules. Basically any names that could misled players, are similar or exactly the same in pronunciation to others on the server are not allowed. In cases of two players with the same name the last player that joined the server or just changed their name must change theirs to something else.
Ghosting/ Meta Gaming: Mostly the same long winded rule with types of examples. The only small difference is that things like changing team or using server wide alerts to signal that you are dead is included in this rule. Players may be punished if found they are using this to signal to alive players that they are dead.
Prop Surfing: Old rule added back with the addition of prop grabbing. This rule means that you cannot at any time use props to surf around by having it held under you while you are on top of it and use it to access any areas of the map. Stacking props on eachother and jumping on them while they are not held is allowed as long as it is not map exploiting by doing so.
Prop Blocking: Again with prop grabber on this rule is needed to be added. You cannot actively hold a prop to block someone from getting past or moving it so they cannot move past you. This also includes grabbing a prop as someone is moving it away so they can access a certain area of the map.
Traitor Rules
Baiting T buddies: This is a new rule and the aim of it is so Traitors work together with other Traitors as a team and not against each other having each other killed. Mostly you need to not be working against your other Traitors by either telling other players they are a traitor, spreading already called KOSes on your other traitors leading to them dying or not assisting your T buddies in fights so they die.
Traitorous Acts
These are mostly all the same or worded different, the only new addition is number 9. Damaging or attempting to damage Innocents (Self Defence excluded) or Detectives with a knife or damaging grenades. This is already enforced but is now included in the T acts. The damaging with grenades is talked further in the rules at the bottom.
Non Traitorous Acts
Mostly the same as Traitorous acts small changes to wording and some new common sense ones. The most notable addition is the last one again, 14. Shooting through walls or smokes, you must see the person they are shooting. This is in relation to the new rule of shooting through smokes and other objects, just because you see one player shooting into something does not mean you can shoot them they may be returning fire or just shooting cause they want to.
General Server Rules
Mic Spam: Mic spam has been changed a bit to reflect what is enforced on the server. Mostly it is now outlined further that the voice chat should always be at a level that KOSes or other game related calls can be heard by all players. The rule also includes not singing or playing music over the mic.
No Advertising: The advertising rule has been changed so that any advertising that isn’t DTK is not allowed on the server. This includes links in names or asking players to go to certain sites, groups or servers. Although this does not mean that group tags are not allowed as long as you are not actively advertising that group.
Map/ Server Exploiting: Not exactly a new rule to be enforced on the server, but new nonetheless. This rule basically outlines that any exploiting of bugs, glitches or unintended features of the map or server is not allowed and will be punished. Things such as grenade glitches, lagging or even crashing of the server is what this rule covers.
Name Changing: The name changing rule now allows players to change their name mid round if they have been identifed or if an admin has instructed them to do so.
Encouraging Rule Breaking: This rule prohibited players from encouraging rule breaking in other players and also the spread of misinformation in regard to rules. Players that are spreading false information or encouraging rule breaking will be punished.
Punishments:
Punishments is an entirely new section of the rules and is replacing the individual punishments that was below every rule in the old version. They also go into detail of what each is used for and what is expected of players when they are used.
Slaying: Slaying is what all players know it to be you type “kill” in your console or kill yourself somehow for breaking of the rules. There isnt much of a difference to normal expect for one major part of it. Detectives will no longer be exempt from slaying on their rounds, mostly this is because of no longer needing them not to due to detectives not being needed as much anymore with the way the gamemode is currently played. As always not slaying when told to for any reason will mean a warning.
Warning: Same as it always is 3 warnings and you will be automatically banned on the server and other DTK servers, not fun so try to avoid that one.
Ban: Ban means your gone and will no longer be able to play on DTK servers for the length of the ban given to you. The length depends on your past history and what you were banned for, like normal bans can be viewed, requested or appealed >>>HERE<<<.
Mute/Gag: Mutes and Gags like normal are given for misuse of your mic or text chat. For the length of the mute or gag you will not be able to use voice chat for a mute or text chat for a gag. The length can change depending on what the player has done but the standard length is 10 minutes.
Important Note:
These notes were also added in the last part of the rules just to outline the admins role on the server and how to deal with other stuff, mostly self explanatory.
Players should also always be respectful to the admins of the server, any abuse, trolling or any other inappropriate behaviour towards them can and will be punished. Please always listen to admins and obey any instructions they may give you or to the server, failing to listen and follow instructions may lead to consequences.
Admins will always have the final say on any punishment or decision regarding the servers rules. If you believe that an admin has mishandled a situation or was too strict towards you or another player you can contact the TTT SA to discuss what happened. If you were banned on the server you can appeal the ban.
Thats it for the changes, like i said above most changes are not talked about here quite alot of the changes was to the formatting of the text and the phrasing used. I will hopefully update this post if any new rules are added or changed, but please only use this as a guide and not the offical rules.
Like before if you have any questions with the new rules or the existing ones please feel free to use this thread as a way to ask me or others admins. The main and continuing goal of these new rules when i first started drafting them up was to make them as clear as possible so don’t be afraid to ask any questions you may have.
