Rules need to be changed

So today I was playing and realised that there is a contradiction in the rules.

1. Shooting at or in the general direction of other players (self defence excluded).

now all the admins are saying "don't kos/shoot at someone just because they are shooting. wait for them to ID the body before calling kos/shoot at them"

See the bit where it says self defence excluded, therefore it is not a traitorous act to shoot back at someone shooting you, hence wait till they id the body or call a kos. the rule already covers that.

You're not going to know who is shooting first and you could end up killing an Innocent defending themselves. The rule makes it clear it is not a traitorous act if its in self defence, which is exactly why you are told what you are by admins.

If you read the rule it is letting players know they are committing a traitorous act if they are shooting at or in the general direction of another player unless they are doing so in self defence. It is letting players know if they are being shot at or near they are within their rights to shoot back. It doe not say you can shoot anyone who is shooting as it clearly says its allowed in self defence and you dont know that by watching people shooting at each other.
