Relation to the coco server and many others. Downgrading your client

I was asked this morning how to downgrade the client so it will work with minecraft servers running on the bukkit version 684 ( this is basically all of them) except becca :P

Anyway quick how to if you updated by accident:

Step 1 Download the bin.rar

Step 2

Go to your appdata>roaming folder and delete .minecraft [ Keep your saves and texturepacks if you really want them]

Step 3

Go to your minecraft.exe and launch it, Log in, and proceed to update the client to beta 1.5

Step 4

When it is finished downloading exit minecraft and go to your appdata>roaming folder again but this time copy the bin.rar into your main directory and "extract here"

Step 5

Re-open minecraft.exe and this time don't update

Q: Why do I have to delete my minecraft files only to download them again?
A: You need a fresh set of files in order for this to work

Q: Where is my appdata folder?
A: ask google there are 1000+ TuTs

Q: Why do I have to downgrade?
A: Because the server wrapper bukkit (new hMod) has to update but this can take up to 6-10 hours after the update has occurred for minecraft.

Moral of the story - Don't update straight away if your playing a multiplayer server that is running bukkit
