So I wake up at on the weekend and thought i'm gonna play some Zombies, so I launch my PC, go into google chrome, go into youtube, put my emo music on XD. Then I launch steam and go to launch CS:GO but when it was launching it stopped and a message popped up and said: Failed to start game (unknown error). I have no idea what I should do to fix it and apparently the people of the internet havent had this problem since 2014, so if anyone knows how to fix it please comment or message me on Steam if you know my steam account.

Did you try verify the game cache?

If not.

1. right click the game in your steam library
2. click properties.
3. click the "local Files" tab, then click on the "Verify Integrity of Game cache" button.

Yeah I've tried that and it did nothing and I've also reinstalled CSGO but now its happening to all source games except for Left 4 Dead 2. Thanks for trying to help though, much appreciated

I usually go to my toolbar and right click the steam icon, click exit steam and relaunch.

Have you tried to run steam as an administrator? I've had this exact issue before and that fixed it.

NVIDIA Drivers, Razer Cortex, Windows Processes and some AMD Drivers

Close Razer Cortex, and AMD Gaming Evolved (if you installed it), they both have in game overlays that may be interfering

Boy oh boy do I have something to say about Razer Cortex. Uninstall that RIGHT now. It's got a pretty interface and all, but absolutely screwed me over for a few days. I was having trouble launching games, got advice on another website to uninstall it, fixed everything.
