assault rifle/pistol only server

Hey there.

So lately I find myself getting annoyed at the amount of people who on and use guns like the dakdak p90 and so on, I have tried my best to ignore the problem or come back later when they have their fun with these weapons, but it seems to be getting worse, to the point now where I am trying to find other servers to play on.

Anyway, my thought is what do you think about having a pistol/rifle only server on death match mode with instant spawn? I would like the idea since I am personally getting quite tired of dealing with high capacity mag dumpers.

I just figured I'd throw this idea out there just to see what others think.

Would a pistol only server really pull enough numbers to warrant making another server? I don't see many of them about so I can only assume there is no player base for a full time server.

I'm thinking of having both pistols and assault rifles too, just to clarify.

And I'm not particularly a fan of random spawn, but I guess what you could do, is have 3 rounds on normal spawn, than 3 on random and cycle it around like that?

That idea sounds really good, better than the usual rushes with Dak-Dak/ P90/ M249

I'm glad you like the sound of the idea. I guess the next thing to think about is what mods if any would be ran on the server and what maps would be played.

When it comes to mods, I'm not really sure what I'd like/want. Atm in terms of mods I wouldn't mind medical packs but maybe instead of allowing you to hog it up to 200 maybe have it so you can only put your health to 110 or 120 at the max, but with the med packs, I don't want to see them dropping whenever someone dies, so maybe we can look into setting it up so that every third or fourth kill a med pack drops from someone and fills your health up by 20 or something like that, or we could look at seeing if it's possible to have say 3 games with med packs on 3 games with them off like I would like to do with random spawn, so that way you do cycle between having it either off or on, I'm not sure if this is possible or if it would lag the server out, but I guess it's something to be thought about.

In terms of maps, instead of running the same map over and over again, I'm thinking it might be nice to run some vanilla maps and than run some community created maps to which I've seen some pretty cool ones on another server.

I don't anyone will play on that type of server for more than a week. Hardly anyone in AU/NZ scrim/war in source anymore. People who like to play that competitive style will be on CS:GO, where leagues/ladders/pugs support it more. Source is only left for the casual. Stuff like zombie, scoutknives, surf, deathrun, bhop servers are on CS:GO now, as well as the people who use to play them on source.

These things can take time, i'd suggest you get a good following for it, and keep trying until told otherwise. But don't be too pushy if you know what i mean.

Wouldn't be played much I don't think. Of course, DtK members would play but the majority of the community who play DD2 DM aren't members. I find it more exciting when I pop the head of those silly scrubs :>

I would definitely invest time into attending events as such. Like the scout event on DD2. Though, if it's to be trialed as a new server, it shouldn't be hosted on DD2.

Are there servers that just sit mostly empty? We could utilize those servers for it over setting up a new one.

office went downhill imo..too much restrictions..the cabinets im assuming was added to prevent campers at far window,but then vending machine was removed so anyone could select the awp from the menu...it became an awp fest like dust2.

That is what has really turned me off dust2 nowadays, Just too many awps dakdak and people spraying m249 and sub machine guns which is why I would like to see a server without snipers or the lmg and if sub machine or lmg get added in (Which I don't really want them in), they would be added in as a pick up weapon and not something you can just spawn with.

While we are at it, lets just restrict all guns except for the M4 and AK.

Why not just play aim maps?
