Should the Golden Gun be given more spawning locations?

I've noticed numerous players over time complaining on Dust2 about certain other players whoring the GG.

The GG on Dust2 only has 2 spawn location so anyone who likes to whore it knows if it's not here then it's over there.

What we did on Office to reduce the complains and level the playing field was decrease the ammo to 7 rounds (so it's not unlimited) and then it re spawns in one of 28 random locations somewhere on the map so nobody knows where it's going to spawn.

Reducing the ammo is kind of lame and I'd advise against doing so but creating additional spawning locations however means every player has an equal opportunity to obtain it if they so wish.

Should the GG be given more spawning locations on D2?

I have played a lot of dust and rarely does anyone complain about the spawn locations. If you have any more concerns, please PM the [SA] or [JA]s of the server as they are the regular players and can help answer any questions.

I haven’t heard anyone complain about “Spawning locations” per se but I have heard players complain when one particular player goes for it constantly whilst others never touch it.

Whether or not an admin is present on the server is beside the point really.

If someone is whoring the GG, there isn’t really anything an admin can do to prevent them or anyone else from using a certain weapon or employing a certain play style or tactic, other than chastising or berating them for it, which is unbecoming and fairly weak IMO.

Providing the Golden Gun with additional spawning locations would not only reduce this occurrence but improve the gameplay dynamic by allowing other players to happen upon it opportunistically not knowing where it will be.

I can’t fathom how that would have a negative impact on the server.
I’m suggesting a trial to see what happens, I'm pretty sure it would have a positive effect.

Personally I don't mind people whoring the GG(I do it as well) cos it just means you know where they gonna be and can own them more and more. Having it in one spot aint that bad but having it in others seems fine to me as well. Only thing, it would mean another coding thingo change to the dust server which lags out a bit when small changes are made already.

Plus you could really only have it spawn in two other spots with it still being fair. One at long somewhere, but that can be camped out and it could only be used by one side the whole time. Or in mid, where hardly anyone can get to it before dying. So really only in upper tunnels where the team domination of that area changes so often can it be fair. I'm just rambling i think.

and usually it's the ones who can't deal with GG players are the ones that complain.
leave it as it is,Dust2 has no problems,everyone knows where the GG is and everyone has an equal chance of getting to it.
besides,i hardly see many players go for the GG

If people don't want to get rekt they can make an attempt to go for the golden gun imo, just because someone else utilizes it doesnt mean its a balance issue.

I think the GG spawn is fine as is.

The GG is certainly fun to use - that's if you can pry it from BooBoo's cold, dead hands...

Normally I reply with a novel but I'll keep this one short and sweet. If I know someone is whoring the GG I will personally pick it up and hold it so that no one can use it for the benefit of my team. Simple strategies like this reduce the whoring of the GG.

The reason the GG is the way it is on Dust2 is because the Admin of Dust2 and the regular players truly know how the GG impacts the server and because of that no change has been made otherwise the Dust2 Admin would have adjusted it accordingly.

There are not enough complaints about the GG to justify changing it at least in my opinion and from the majority of in-game feedback.

That’s actually how I looked at it for a long time including whenever I hear someone crying about others using the Awp, P90, dak dak, camping or employing any other playstyle tactic they find difficult or frustrating to combat.

I hate hearing/seeing players cry and complain about a particular person or rage quitting because of another player who is following the rules and only playing the game inside of the set parameters that we’ve allowed them to play in.

Providing additional spawn points for the GG effectively nullifies the validity of any further and future complaints because players are unable to predict it’s re-spawn location.
It also contributes greatly to a broader more varied gameplay dynamic.

There doesn’t actually seem to be call for it at present to warrant a trial of this nature, though there have been numerous complaints over time.

I’m basing my theory on how it played on the Office model after the additional spawn points were created we saw a total reduction in the number of complaints about GG whores.

I know most players like to make others rage where ever they can because that’s fun for some people, I still believe trailing additional spawn points would have a beneficial effect on the server with specific regards to the gameplay dynamic and a reduction in complaints.

Perhaps I’m wrong to attribute that it could improve the gameplay dynamic on Dust and that crying, raging, whinging and complaining actually contributes to a fun gaming environment, that fire between players and the rivalries forged… <--------Not being sarcastic here, just trying to glance at it from different perspective.

Hmm that's odd, I play dust2 a lot and I've never heard anyone complain about the GG. I wasn't aware this was a problem??? (Only occasionally I'll start abusing Tonka because he always owns me with the GG, but it's obvious I'm doing it jokingly and he knows I'm not serious)

I don't recall the last time anyone complained and wanted the GG changed in any way what so ever that is how long it has been and how very few "complaints" we receive if you even want to call it a complaint. I know I've only been around a short time but in my opinion if the GG has been this way for some time and unchanged that tells me that the majority of players like, or have accepted, the way the GG functions including respawn points.

I play the server way too much which means I monitor in-game feedback on an extreme level and if I start hearing from a lot of players in a short period of time give the same feedback in regards to something that should be added, removed or changed slightly then I pass this information on to Delta. People complain 100x more about people using awp, dak dak, para, p90, camping, spawn camping, the pit etc. So the GG is not an issue at all.

The fact that we might get the odd person suggesting it to be changed once a month means it's perfectly fine the way it is and I do not see any reason in trialing more respawn points to "Reduce the number of complaints" from once a month to 0 a month. More people would complain about us changing the GG than those who already complain about the way it is now.

Yeah that is odd Button because I’m pretty sure I saw at least two separate people make posts calling for changes to the GG specifically on Dust in the not so distant past, one requesting for it to be removed and the other suggesting it to be modified as in a reduced mag size, both of which are bad ideas imo. But then one of the last times I jumped on the server I hear some random persistently complaining about the GG and someone else whoring it.

It made me think back to what was happening on Office and how players have complained about GG whoring across multiple threads over the history of the server, many of those complaints usually revolved around how any one individual could/would consistently whore it round after round.

So I hear once, twice and shortly thereafter a third time on the server and I perceived there to be an ongoing issue.

People complain 100x more about people using awp, dak dak, para, p90, camping, spawn camping, the pit etc.

That’s true Boosh but at the same time you can’t really do anything about those types of complaints, certainly not equivalent to creating additional spawns for the GG which doesn’t remove or reduce its ability as a weapon.

The concept of additional re-spawns points is also 50/50 geared towards introducing a greater variance in the gameplay dynamic not purely reducing or eliminating complaints.

But if it ain’t broke, why fix it right…

Conducting a trial of the thread poll scenario wouldn’t hurt and could only offer more insight and intel albeit for a brief mix up in the game play dynamic which would not have a detrimental effect or negatively impact the server.

Most of the complaints I’ve seen arise regarding GG whores is when one player (usually good player with excellent rego) decimates the other team and after someone finally kills them they rush back to where they know it’s going to be and claim it again. Randoms spawns means nobody has to hold onto it for “safe keeping” I used to employ this same tactic on Office and I’ve witnessed several others do the same.

It is only one weapon but whoever has it is can be OP, more spawns just means it would get shared around. Someone dies with it and they don’t know where it is and then someone else can find it and have a turn.

I think my favourite thing about the Golden Gun is the ability to rocket jump around the map, lining up a triple kill is also pretty sweet.

After having a meeting with the Admins of dust2, we have decided that the golden gun will not change at this point in time. This is due to minimal complaints over our extensive time in the server.
