Hey mate. DtK has a store feature which you unlock when you donate $10 to the server. You can find this as the little green "Donate" at the top of your screen.
This allows you to user the store in-game, and access all the cool trails and skins that you have seen on the servers

Most of the custom stuff like that are for donators. All features are mentioned in the link^
There are two skins, top 200 and 50 which are free for you to earn. Top 200 is the Halo skin, and top 50 is the DTK leet skin.

You can also install Custom Skins that are only view able by you and assuming the server allows custom skins.
Yes donate some money to the DtK servers and youll get those customisations. VIP skins, Trailers, nade trailers, weapon colors, name colors the list goes on.
