well dtk, pretty straight forward what do you prefer to play, Dota 2 or League of Legends. State your reasons why, im not so familiar with LoL so illl like to hear why its so good. if im convinced enough i will install :P

I PREFER LoL over Dota 2(this does not = "I fink dota is sheeet") simply because Dota 2 has a significantly higher learning curve. If you are level 1 in LoL, you will get matched with those that are also level 1, or as close to it as they can manage. But if you just got out of the tutorial for Dota 2, they randomly pair you with other people - not sure if there is a rating system that they pair you with, like how LoL has MMR/Elo - and you can get paired with well versed veterans. This means that the teammates you are paired with can become abusive because of your lack of skill despite your recent tutorial completion.

Does this mean LoL is 'easier', or for 'casuals'? Maybe, but its much EASIER to hold onto players that are CASUAL gamers if they are able to learn how to play the game at a steady pace, instead of being shoved into a difficult game against veteran players right from the get-go. This could be a reason to LoL rapid success and currently growing competitive scene. But please do not misunderstand me, or put words in my mouth. Dota 2 is a good game; it was born from the very community that let the original Dota thrive. I myself used to play Dota 1 every now and then, in between playing other community made games/modes. Dota 2s competitive scene is large, even back when it just started, and it will most definitely continue to grow.

LoL is great game, and so is Dota 2, but some like LoL and others like Dota 2. Simple.

I just like the mechanics more for Dota. And I prefer a higher skill cap.

I prefer working on strategy rather than worrying about game mechanics. (League has simple mechanics, dota doesn't)
As far as i know there's no punishment system in dota, league however...
makes the games much more playable, along with the communication aspect of league.

I prefer League, mainly because its what i started out with and the art style caught me, the speed of the game is also at a great pace. When playing Dota 2 i feel as if everything is happening so fast because of the crazy abilities half the characters have and you can literally get 1 shot with 1 ability... I'm unsure on how to play against that but i guess the easiest way to put it would be that i'm not very experienced with the game and to be honest... Learning a game like these two take time, being good and understanding them both at a high level would be difficult i feel...

I used to be that person who was always saying "Dota 2 is shit, League is the best!" But honestly, I'd much rather play Dota 2. It only gets fun when you're playing ranked of some description, because there's always retards that play pubsquashers like Riki and Nyx Assassin or Death Prophet and your teammates have no ♥♥♥♥ing idea how to counter stealth.

DotA also has a punishment system, at first, it wasn't that severe, now it is. Players would be put into low priority when a significant amount of reports taken against the player, a matchmaking pool where everyone is trash + long duration to find a game. One of the punishment system used to be getting muted, which was entirely ridiculous, considering its a game that heavily requires communication, Valve work on that after getting flamed at on their forums.

Syked begged me to get LOL so I did. Played it with him once and never again. In my opinion it was completely shocking! Graphics were shit and it was an easy game all together.

I prefer dota it's more of a challange. You get killed you lose money thus making it harder to buy items and help your hero to get stronger.

To get around the map you need money to buy tp scrolls thus making you think wisely about how you spend your money unlike in LOL where you can automatically tp back to base if your on low health or to get items that you have purchased.

Just because LOL has 300 heros in it doesn't automatically make it better. LOL is a rip off of dota considering dota was first to be released. Dota is more competitive now as it is with ranked matches and punishments for leaving the game.

Just gonna say this as I play the solo-mid role often. I really dislike people who say this to me, especially.. ESPECIALLY when I'm playing as Shadow Fiend.
High-tier matchmaking usually has the supports to gank, not the mid. But considering its pub, you may be right, however, I do expect that you could only gank in certain circumstances and the heroes you are playing as.

For example, as I mentioned before, a Shadow Fiend ganking? Are you serious? SF playing mid is to get levels and farm, not to gank, it's skill set is also not for ganking. If you gonna gank, at least get a disable for him to land his Razes.
As for heroes like Pudge or Silencer, ganking is a must, as they get stack kills and benefit from them.
While heroes like Puck, QOP, Storm are in the middle.

So my tip is, don't let the mid gank, if at all, make the supports from another lane gank with smoke and TPs.

I think you misunderstand.
I didnt say dota 2 lacked strategy.

Does the game seperate accidental dc's / real life from 'rage quits, or troll quits' in terms of giving out punishments / when recieving a report.

I dont know all the details, but i prefer leagues simplistic do stuff bad you get a warning, or chat ban, do stuff wrong again you get a temp ban, and possibly a perm ban for continuation of same issue.
I played some dota2 with a few friends, so much trolling possibilities it was just hair pulling to play. (Especially with the carrier thing that replaced the recall function that could be controlled be the entire team, ping spamming... etc)
I'd be fine with learning it inside and out but its just not polished enough imo.
That vid is kinda taking what im saying out of context too.. considering it's a 5v5 professional game not just a solo queue norm/ranked game.
Plus the ability to lose money but not items on death just seems pointless (all ye doing is reinforcing the idea to buy items and not let money stack, when people do this already to benifit stats... unnecessary punishment).
The turret mechanics are abit bizarre, same with creep countering but still fine.

Pretty sure dota is a rip of some starcraft mod, and league isnt a rip considering it was made by the same people that shared the passion for the game but with different opinions in terms of gameplay.
Could you expand on those punishments? and do they happen in normals? (When people are learning the game)

+there is a hidden public matchmaking rating in dota 2 which makes the matchups very similar to LoL.
