Hey just wondering what peoples thoughts are on adding the M249. I always found the gun fun on office but I can see some issues arise since it's got a lot of bullets and we have enough Pro90s as is :P
I was thinking it could be implemented a couple of ways:
- Similar to the awp machine, only 2 allowed.
- Random spawn like the GG.
I'd like to have it in the menu but having 20+ players with M249s can become a nightmare..hilarious nightmare but also infuriating at times :P
We can have the M249 but with maybe 50 rounds instead of 100. It can be on the vending machine, it cud be on the same one as the awp one so you have a 50/50 chance of getting both weapons.

This has been brought up more than once in the past.
The general consensus and conclusion is -
We have P90s,
M249s can make people lag,
the vending machine shouldn't be overdone by adding more in just for this gun,
people rage about P90s' enough as it is,
Office being a small range, tight knit combat map people don't want everybody just spray spamming the M249 everywhere.
Etc.
I don't think it'd be a good idea.

Not sure how M249s make people lag..that's quite some bug. But yer I agree having a server full of M249s will be stupid. Like I said, maybe a random spawn like the GG gun. One M249 ain't gonna break office anymore than Pro90s do imo.
I don't like that idea at all Terminator...not being to have my awp 100% of the time. That's just..insanity! :P
The lag thing has happened before.
When we have events etc, where everybody has M249s' it lags out the game for alot of people if not everybody.
A one off random spawn I still don't think is a good idea. There's already the GG, the AWPs and just going off responses in the past, it's not been something people are keen to try is all, spesh cause the P90 can be used by all, generally the regulars believe thats' enough
Seeing as it's been quite a long while since it was disabled, it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring it back for a short trial - maybe with lesser bullets this time. If it's still going to cause issues it can be removed or if the issues are not so bad as it used to be (with changes made to office e.g the smoke addition) it could stay.
i dont see how the m249 could be more annoying then the pro90, it is harder to use
We trialed it a while ago and it was a disaster, it might work on office extreme or unlimited but regular office is just too small for the para. If you need a weapon that is high powered and has a large magazine just use p90.

Para's are now enabled on the Office server for a trial.They only have 25 bullets per clip. (this can be decreased/increased based on feedback from the office players)
I think it is a bit hypocritical that we tell people "it's part of the game", "deal with it" and "learn to counter it" when people bring up discussion about removing P90's, AWP's , etc , yet we removed Para/m249's completely from the server.

or just use the ak47 and learn to aim..it is the highest powered weapon aside from the m3 and awp.

25 bullets in the clip isn't enough. The reload time is longer then holding down the trigger.

Would like to see it stick,around with out to many complaints.
I don't mind the M249, I quite like the heavy thumping sound it makes in my headset XD
25 rounds isn't an adequate enough incentive imo for a player to choose it over other available weapons especially when you take the reload speed into consideration.
But at the same time I still managed to mow down 5 opponents with those 25 rounds at one point.
Increasing the ammo would most likely see more players venture to try out the weapon, but too much ammo would obviously invite problems and could result in further negative feedback whilst at the same time promote or encourage people to complain about it much like the p90.
One thing I noticed about the p90 is it tends to be a case of monkey see, monkey do.
Somebody always go bananas over it and starts crying foul about players using it choosing to say things like you p90 scrub, noob, whore, "use a wheel gun" etc...
Really? A wheel gun?.. You want me to use a wheel gun? Cause that's a somewhat permanent outcome o.O
Nobody wants to have players voice these same tired complaints with the M249.
Squall has been very careful with implementing this trial on the server.
With 25 rounds, so far in my view it's fine. I would ultimately like to see the ammo increased to at least 30 rounds and see how that plays out for a week or two. Perhaps even 40 rounds.
I would strongly advise against increasing it anymore than 50 rounds, imo that would be pushing it too far. Let's not forget they were originally removed from the server for a reason.
A random spawn para as SiNz suggested could also be fun to trial, just one. But only as an alternative to being able to select one directly through the weapons menu, it does have a full 100 bullets and the same player is somehow unable to use it again in the same round.
