Friendly Fire on DTK GG Servers

Hey Guys,

I've played on a few servers (back on 1.6 - not so many on css) where FF was off until someone reached the HE nade level. in my experience, this allows a better and calmer game as people don't rage when they lose a level for accidental TKing (as well as stopping the idiots form deliberately TKing for the whole game).

Just wondering if there was any chance of having this implemented at all?

i agree always annoying when you accidently tk someone and then you get like a votekick or voteban as well as people massively raging because they lost their killing streak etc etc.

Sorry, i cant say i agree.. u need to try watch where u throw your nade (all though your allies arent always where you think they are). It adds to the fun of the game, as someone could be miles out in front and kill 2 ppl on his team with a nade and lose the game... It just adds another dimension..

It is accidental tking ... so we cant get angry at ppl for that..

Tend to disagree with disabling FF based on the following..


1. The nature of the GG Maps are small and the game play is quick -- with FF disabled it would be very easy just to sit behind your team mates and spam (take for instance the corner maps). This in turn would make the rounds far too quick and fairly boring.

2. FF forces players to consider their shots more carefully, which in turn allows for greater thought, challenge and ultimately skill.

3. Raging over a lost level shows immaturity on the player's behalf -- Given the high frequency of players and size of maps, unintentional TK's are bound to happen regardless of skill level.

4. Nubs who TK purposefully can and should be votekicked/banned immediately.


In summary, I think the overall gameplay strikes a good balance as it currently stands...

Not entirely what i meant there Bruva....
what i was referring to was having FF disabled *until* nade level, then enabled once someone gets to nade level.

To clarify - I'm all for having FF enabled when someone is at nade level, what i meant with the TKing was in reference to people spamming with the guns

The only reason I brought this up is that it worked really well on the server i used to play (back on 1.6) - but then, we also played fewer 'fun' maps

Anyway - just my 2c

I have to agree with FF on. make game play more interesting. as for people tking on purpose, ill quite gladly add them to the perm ban list =]

and its good with ff on even that i normally have to get about 4 nade kills sometimes...... makes it so ur less trigger happy

We have tried the server with out FF, and we got more people kicking up because it wasnt on, so we went back to having FF on.

You only go down a level, you'll level up pretty quick since the maps are small.

2. For people who insist on deliberate team killing, there's the vote ban system. If they persist, let admin know via the forum so they can deal with it.

While I was jumping around on other servers yesterday (while we were waiting patiently for the DtK servers to be upgraded) I found a GG server that had a forgive/not forgive system for TK. Basically if someone TK's you you get a little window that pops up where your skin menu, map voting box etc comes up, asking if you forgive the person, if you decide to hit no, then there's a variety of options to 'punish' the player.... might be an idea to look into that if it hasn't already been looked into?

yes that is brilliant set fire to them, freeze them or just have them whacked for revenge thats a beutiful idea

AH yeah, I remember the forgive system! I remembered when I first started playing CSS I killed team mates by mistake, it didn't go so well :S

True that, but isnt that what gungame is anyway? Besides the pistols, and snipers, generally it's hard to aim for someone when you have 30 people shooting at you lol.

Gungame, without FF, would be waaay to easy imo. Annoying as it can be, it's challenging and fun but
