    DtK Rust Server - ONLINE



    By now you might've heard about a DtK Rust server and it's true DtK has a Rust server. It is only a TRIAL server so it may not stay around forever. Rust is not a free game, it costs $20 and is in it's alpha stage but it is well worth the money.

    Rust is a mix between DayZ, Minecraft and Stalker where you have to survive against the infected and build bases, find loot and make friends or enemies.

    To connect to this server, press f1 to open console,
    type in net.connect 119.252.190.247:28465





    Active:
    -Door Sharing: You can now share doors with your friends. Type /share name to allow your friends to open/close your doors and /unshare name to remove the privilege.

    -Private Message System: You can now PM your friends on the server. type /PM name message

    Base Alarms: Alerts player if someone is breaking into their base. (Monitors doors,barricades,etc)

    Groups: Allows players to create groups. Group members can chat with each other and see online statuses of fellow members;

    gwho - See which group members are online
    /g "Message" - Group chat


    /gcreate - Create a group
    /gdelete - Delete a group
    /ginvite Playername


    Being Implemented:


    -Starter Kits: New players will spawn with a better outfit and survival gear. (armor,weapon,healthpack,etec).

    Crafting Improvements: Some changes will be made to improve the overall experience on the server e.g shorter crafting time

    Improved Loot Tables: Changes will be made to loot drops of animals,zombies,etc to make it more rewarding.


    Planned:

    -Coordinate System to find friends
    - Day / Night Control
    - Kills announced on Global Chat (X killed Y)
    - more to come later

    I think with the new Door sharing system (hold E on a door, gives options for Codes / Unlocks etc) that its messing with the Door Sharing mod (/share) because my mates are having issues where I've shared doors, but they can't open it due to it being locked.

    Yes I noticed that as well. Might be that the old door permissions have been overwritten by the new door update. I am keeping an eye on any doorsharing mod updates and will install as soon as they get released.

    For the time being, problematic doors will need to be "unlocked" (E -> Unlock) or assigned/unassigned a passcode to allow your friends access to it.

    Well in my defense, people were bragging about having more than 200k and I didn't really know if it was true or not and I didn't know the air drop rate was so high.

    And yeah no should remove all items off buy menu that don't benefit newer players - as they just make experienced (and those whom arent completely legit - esp users) more op.

    All my resources got 'Found' by a guy who 'followed' us from the wrong direction and then camped base and killed us as soon as we were close enough to be seen.
    Cough legit cough.
    (same guy that was bragging about lots of cash and buying bolt action rifle).

    I'm not sure about the DTK server for new starts.
    For me I can't defend myself 24hrs a day due to work and family zaps the joy from it for me.
    The ability to kill people sleeping is a negative for me.
    The list function and economy function are great.
    Just my two cent worth.

    I think you can disable sleepers (only temporarily though). Although it does make you want to keep coming back on to check and adds a factor of realism to the game.

    To the people not so keen on the economy addition, consider the 2 scenarios below:


    Normal Rust without Economy:

    -New players are always at a disadvantage. Getting killed or raided means they start from scratch.
    -Bandits/raiders get stronger while the person being raided loses everything. This cycle continues unless there are multiple opposing groups on the server, even then the new players ,loners will be targeted most often.
    -Stocking up on materials and items is a double edged sword. If raided, it's all gone otherwise, you have a bunch of materials that cannot be really used for anything if you already have the items you need.
    - If you have learnt all blueprints and have enough materials of a certain kind, you have no incentive to kill animals,zombies or even other players. As it often results in you acquiring blueprints you already have or materials that are of no use.

    Rust with Economy:

    - Killing animals,zombies,players rewards players with money. This means that in addition to the resources gained from killing stuff (e.g chicken breast from pigs,bears,etc) you also get some currency that can be used to purchase stuff that you do not have or that can be saved for later use. Killing stuff is no longer a useless venture.
    - A smart player will not stock up on materials. Instead they will sell everything to the server and only keep items they need. For instance they will only use the wood they collected to build a base and instead of keeping the extra wood in storage, they will sell it to the server for money. If they do get raided and killed,they won't have anything on their person. They can bounce back from raids very easily as they sold all their items to the server, which now they can buy back. You do lose a bit of money when you die but at least you have something.
    -Raiders/Bandits - since death results in loss of some money, raiding/killing people is no longer very favorable due to the risks. If players are no longer using the storage as much, raiding isn't going to yield as much rewards.
    -Helping friends in need. When your friend is located half way across the map and is being raided, you probably won't make it in time especially at night time.But with the money transfer system, you will be able to help your friend from the comfort of your house.
    -Bounties. Now there is incentive for players to stand up to bandits.
    -With an economy system. raiding or being bandits is no longer the only way to advance in this game. It now offers multiple ways to gear up and build that dream base of yours.

    The economy does a lot for it without actually changing the game mechanics.
    Just takes ages to sell everything off. But not as long as it would take to require all the equipment I guess.

    I look forward to these plugins getting a better interface
