I made this in GIMP using a few logos and gradients. Took me about 20-30mins. Not bad for a first spray, eh?
What do you guys think of it?

What's the resolution you recommend? I used the on from the spray pack you posted. And how do I clean the edges up? I tried anti-aliasing but it didn't really work.
You can smooth the edges easily just by painting over them with a soft brush. When resizing images, photoshop will smooth the edges for you.
I suggest acquiring photoshop in some way shape or form, as I really can't assist anyone with GIMP.
A resolution is as high as the Source engine allows, becareful when exporting to PNG as it can make things look jagged, I suggest exporting to TGA, or BMP-24bit.
I have photoshop on my school craptop (yes, I said craptop, cause photoshop is laggy on it). I will try to look for a way to smooth the edge using GIMP. There is probably a addon or something. I also saved in PNG, so I'll try TGA like you said.

That is a really good job IMO, I'm pretty rubbish with things like gimp and Photoshop, and i would have to say that is a really good job especially for a first try
