Hello everyone , how we all doing ?

First of all I would just like 2 set things straight , I am in no way insulting DtK , DtK and its Admins and I am souley making this thread as a Worried Long time player who believes something needs 2 be done ASAP .

First I wana start with a little back story : When I first started playing Jb ( almost 3 years ago when Becca was Ja XD ) it was a packed server , almost every night it was full . Remeber this is a time when there was no Ct Test and Becoming ct was souley based on how much u played the server . Becca in my belief was one of the best Admins 2 happen 2 DtK Jailbreak , ( even though I would know a lot of u who would totally disagree ) But anyways she was pretty strict and it was because of this that she gained alot of respect and when ever see was on there was almost no rule breaking and this rubbed off 2 the admins at the time as well .

Ever since becca left ( and her Ja's ) and The CT Test was added there has been a dramatic downfall in the population . Here are my reasons why, there are 2 main things that caused Jb 2 become a almost empty to single digit server .


1. The CT Test : Now like I said before I am not here 2 make any just terms that may offend anyone and the idea its self at first sounds like a good idea . However it took players ( like myself ) Numerous times 2 complete this test , at this time I had been playing jb for over a year and a half and was a effective CT who know the rules and never broke them . I feel like this test is losing pop because it forces people to Join DtK , sign up and do a Test . For some people they just want 2 join a a Jailbreak server and have some fun , maybe they feel like they know the rules and decided 2 go on CT , however finding out that they have 2 sign up and do a test 2 go on ct . Now the way I learned 2 become Ct was First reading the rules and learning them , play playing ct and holding back from warden untill I was comfortable but able 2 warden if necessary .and eventually getting comfortable enough to warden almost every time and be good at it . Sometimes Veteran Warden players just need players in the ct 2 help out and maintain order . I'd honestly rather 4 fairly new Ct's then 2 experienced Ct's . But most of all if your new there is nothing like jumping on ct for the first time and just helping out, and there nothing wrong with it . some of u might say " oh but people might abuse ct " yes that may be the case but thats what Admins are for. We had a system that worked.. why break it ?

Anyways if they got rid of the test and went back 2 the traditional way of just going on Ct when u feel comfortable and gradually building up confidence I would see a large amout of people will tend 2 stay , then say if they realize " oh I have 2 do a test , Cbf " and then leave .


2. Not sure if this was just a coincidence but during the time of DtK's Peek Becca was Sa and she was very strict and it somehow also rubbed off some off the admins , not sure why but ever seen then I have seen not strict enough Admins ( but please don't get me wrong The Admins at the moment are doing a fantastic job as being admins) . Not sure why but I personally love very strict admins , I am not just talking about ohhhh u freekilled a bunch of people u get a perm ban , I am talking about people disrespecting Admins and the admins somewhat ignoring it . Respect is a big thing !! and Respect is earned .

well 2 sum it up , I am just a concerned long time DtK Jailbreak player who feels wthat we need 2 do something and somewhat rewind the clock . I feel we have lost alot of long time players because of these reason and frankly something needs 2 be done . Cassonberry ( the Sa before becca ) called it and made particularly similar thread about a year ago explaining what needs 2 be done and it was somewhat ignored. Look we all know Jb is crumbling and we all see whats going on and we all seem 2 somewhat ignore it ( not all but most ) .

We need 2 do Something !!

I can't speak for newer admins and players.
But years ago there were regular players who could control the room better than most admins.
A few examples would be pwnage45170 and genji (even tho he turned out crap) but they could keep shit in check in the worst situations.
I've noticed in many servers and games the respect and courtesy just isn't what it used to.
It's much bigger than jb or DTK.
I respect you want to make things better, and there is nothing wrong with that at all, but I strongly believe the quality of a server is heavily dependant on the quality of players.
I miss the social aspect of games, I know I've wronged many people here, but i find it very hard to strike up any form of conversation in servers these days.

Unfortunately my internet is too shit for me to enjoy games anymore, which sucks hard core. But not much I can do. Best of luck in trying to improve the quality of the server mate.

It is not the players responsibility 2 populate the server . Your theory of just letting the player sort it out is not going 2 work . Sure inviting your friends 2 the servers is a temp solution and people play Jb because they want 2 and no because there friends invited them .

Honestly thats bs. You can't expect the admins to do everything for the server; thats why there is an SA and 3 JAs for jailbreak. They have lives aswell and their job is the fit the server to our (the players) liking.
Plus inviting your friends to the game is easy, I do it on rotation all the time and we always get it full or close to.
What i always do is invite goose first, cause he is a babe
then you invite other dtk friends who you know will come.
After that you already have 3-6 players, you tell them to invite their friends and you also invite other friends who you think would like to play, BAM! if your friends who are already in are inviting friends aswell the server easily can sky rocket to 20+ and then people join just because the server has players! Then if you hastle them to invite their friends aswell you can easily find that jailbreak will full. Don't go complaining that the admins should be doing all the inviting because that simply is disrespecting them.
(also dont mean to be rude but thats what i thought)

I have actually spoken to the last 3 SAs about removing the whitelist over years and it only being required for banned players to complete to be unbanned... Nobody likes Mellows ideas

From my little experience of the DTK JB server, it seems to be like all of the other JB servers ive played.

It has some nice skins etc, but there is no wow factor or anything that really makes it shine and that includes people.

My suggestion is to look outside the box and see what we can do that no one else has done like custom maps, inventive CT's new minigames etc.

I disagree usually when I'm on there are just as many non dtk members as there are dtk members. I've been on the server when it was full and the only dtk members was me and 1 other person.
A reason for a lot of dtk members to be playing jb is most likely because just regular players like dtk servers and want to join this great community.

Really agree with this post. I was thinking this in my head. I really like DtK JB but the other Aussie JB servers are trash. I have quit Aussie JB and have moved on to Canadian/French/American JB and they're a great bunch of people. If the server were more populated, I would definitely jump onto the server more often.

The server is quite often populated, if you were to look occasionally you would see there are usually at least 8 people. (no rudeness intended). We do quite often have spikes of people join as well.

I've seen a few communities do that and completely revive their server, 64/64 all the time. Just moderate who gets unbanned etc.

Before i stopped playing for a bit, i loved JB. I'd come home from school, wait maybe 20 minutes and the server would be 15+ people, now i struggle to find the peak times, and generally when i do join at peak times, 2-3 maps are played before everyone leaves. Honestly I dont know how this could be improved but the removal of the whitelist and leaving it only for player who have been banned (like Mellow said) would probably help, also my other possible suggestion is finding out what the current JB regulars want in a map, and removing some of the more 'boring' maps. I know this is a long and slow task to create maps but i believe it would make a big difference to have some more excitement. The final thing is, when i began playing all the maps were very fair, T's had a fair chance to rebel and CT's could control them, apart from maybe VIP and Lego. Nowadays there are too many T based maps and I find myself not wanting to warden half the time because its pointless. One CT used to be able to control 10 T's with a little bit of map experience and half decent aim, but now the maps are too T sided and there are too many vent/guns that are simple to get (eg minecraft).

Anyway this is my opinion on the matter

You're right but its also the culture of the server now (i think krez said this earlier) people rebel more often, its what they like to do so you need more than 1 ct to control 10. Although I must say its been a little different in the last week, I've had a lot of fun rounds people aree participating in the games more and its getting easier and better to warden. Some maps are too OP though however, personally i just don't go ct on those maps because i cant stand them. What a lot of people dont realise when they're playing T is that the CT's usually have a fun idea in place, they want to go around and play all the mini games on the map. So people need to be patient and they will get there and have fun!

I agree with you on that lately there have been a lot of T Sided Maps and People seems reluctant to join because the map may be a "T sided" . Back in the day there use to be alot more Ct sided maps . Like don't get me wrong I am not saying make it impossible 2 rebel but it needs to be even . WTF happened 2 colourful !!

Yes you can rarely put faith in the T's (not that you used to be able to lol) but it would be nice to have more control so we can actually enjoy the minigames. Long live canyondam, i think its a very fair map!

To me, the server doesn't seem fun anymore, like you try to do something funny, be funny and you get shot and killed, not saying like rebel or being loud and obnoxious, but you try and have a good time and make everyone laugh, also too many trolls on the server, I spent 20mins on there and about 4-5 trolls were on making the server no fun, why do people like this get ignored? They were also abusive to other players who were trying to have a good time.

I know some people who become CT r nazi's, but there still playing by the rules.

Sometimes even I become nazi, only because I have to deal with constant rebellers.

Another thing is, I don't mind when people rebel, but when its every round and your unable to do anything fun, then I lose interest in playing and I tend to leave.

The system needed changing because it was to the point where one or two admins had to spend their spare time sitting in spec just to make sure people behave, as opposed to joining in (Admins are there for fun too remember), something had to be done, thus the whitelist came into it. Now some of you might say “well it's their job, if they don't like it, step down.”
Wrong.... They agreed to help the server to the point where the game play is at its best quality yes, but that doesn't mean that they should forgo their own gaming time just to babysit in spectator mode for 3 hours or more a day without actually getting to play the game...


The plans to bring the white list in were well under way before I left the Admin team and I was in full support of it and I still am.
The main reason for bringing it in, was to help the server to be a little more self sufficient.


While we still have nights where trolls refuse to vote swap/kick/ban someone who is free killing, dogging last requests etc, simply because they're having a giggle, I will ALWAYS be in favour of the white list being in effect. And the more nights we have like this, the more THAT is going to kill the server, not the white list....



Has the whitelist outlived its usefulness? Nope. However I do see that it's not always needed to be turned on, which is why there is the option to vote it on or off.


As for people having to take the test numerous times, that's only a matter of better understanding the rules, most of which are common sense.
It doesn't matter how long someone has been playing JB, it matters how well they know the server rules and the white list test is a good measure of that.


The current admin team for JB are doing a pretty good job IMO. Different teams = different styles because of the different people in said different teams. They work well enough together and they get the job done.

JB isn't really crumbling, it's still got a good solid following.
The only thing that I can see that is really doing the server any harm so to speak is the fact that instead of what it was like a couple of years ago, when everyone and their dog wanted to be on CT, now NOBODY wants to go on CT.
Most who say they don't want to go on CT is because they don't want to get 'owned' by everyone, especially when it's a case of 1 ct vs 9 or more t's ….

There is a simple solution to that …. more people with a mic and know the rules should guard up and stop being panzies, but of course most prefer to just keep the numbers stupidly off balance and keep rebelling every single round and saying they owned the one CT … news flash for ya …. 9 vs 1 is not “owning” the 1, it just simply means you prefer to mob up on someone which isn't really great makings for good game play on a role play server like Jail Break...

As I said, if more people who can guard up, do guard up, we might actually start getting rounds outside of the cell rooms again...

Everything you have said.... I agree with 100% ! My main idea on the whitelist was somewhat just 2 bring attention 2 that matter because no one else was . everything you said brings somewhat of a "lightbulb" in my head . I remeber back in the day when if no one went ct it was somewhat of a tradition that the Admin went Ct . Now I find myself whenever I get on joinin ct ( sometimes alone ) trying 2 warden . Ill be honest I am a pretty good warden with 2 and a half years under my belt , but still I find it difficult . Although I think in the last week while I have been playing there have been 2 Admins that have hoped on with me . Admin got 2 where they got because they have been playing along time ! u think they would be Descent at Ct 2 and have the guts 2 join a shitty map !

I also feel like the creatively has dropped dramatically and there is just no enthusiasm in people when they warden now a days.... no one really experiments anymore.. haha back in the day people where always coming up with new games... now it seems people play the same shit over and over ....

and I think is what people are meaning by that the people are changing and ill be honest I wasnt sure what that men't but now I understand 100% . they have...what 2 do.... what 2 do =/
