If you are game enough to watch the video you will realise how disgusting this is, it's really not fair.

My father in law occasionally sends livestock overseas if he cannot sell it locally (he has 1000 hectares of land and runs a beef farm in the South West of WA). I can tell you right now if he saw this treatment and was there with his .243 he would have shot all of those people shown in the video, and then shot the animals to put them out of their misery quickly.
I would prefer people who have NO IDEA to stay out of this debate. As well as people who wish to Ban the live export need to realise by banning it here countries will import the animals from another country and it will not prevent ANYTHING. Australia spends MILLIONS a year on education and trying to develop the way these countries treat there animals.
What does my head in, we put more effort into protecting animals than the people who messed up once and are stuck in jails overseas facing the firing squad. Human life seems to mean less than animals... :|
The Australian economy get about 2-3 billion from live trade. It certainly wouldn't cause things to fall in a hole but it would cause our farmers to go broke... Which would in turn have a HUGE effect on the economy.
Farms generate $48 billion a year in gross revenue for the country and employs some 370,000 people across Australia, mining only accounts for a smaller number of employees for Australia @ 190,000. People do not believe what the animal activists say. 99.9% of farmers here care about their animals and hate seeing them mistreated. I will continue later...
There's two ways to solve the problem; remove the problem or tackle the problem. It doesn't bother me as long as there is no torturing occurring. The main reason I made this post is for awareness
I have much more respect for animals, dogs provide unconditional love, you could do anything to them and they would still come back with their tail wagging.
I agree, problem is we can not afford to just "BAN" live exports, it will hurt the economy. Plus as I mentioned Australia is one of the only countries that spends money on trying to educate these countries. By banning it we just turn our back on the issue as far as I am concerned and make it someone else's issue. I do not think it is ethical to do this as it is not ethical to expect other countries to help sick/injured/malnourished children in other countries and not pitch in ourselves.
1 other point, we can not export the meat frozen due to most of these countries being third world... they do not own fridges, or have power in a lot of cases and need there meat to be alive and they kill it before eating. I do no approve whatsoever of cruelty to animals, it is however a fact that the majority of us eat animals and will continue to do so.
I would have expected those cases to be rare, considering fridges and power can be found with those who have the money (in third world countries), and I wouldn't expect Australian beef to be the cheapest beef out there (unless we have some extreme surplus of beef?).
But that's just a thought, I don't have facts, just curious.
But the main point is that animals aren't treated as humanely as they could and should be, and it really needs to be fixed (and in a lot of cases, the treatment of animals could be much better without increasing expenses).

Nah just do some quick research Davey, they can not afford fridges, and do not use them. We do produce more animals than we eat in Australia hence why we export other wise we would just keep the meat ourselves. Australia does not import sheep/cattle but we do import some pig meat off the bone and chicken etc but it is very rare.
Have you seen what goes on in this world regarding humans ourselves? Have you seen what happens in Mexico as a punishment? Have you seen the middle east? Have you seen Africa? Have you seen the inhumane tortures that have been going on throughout this century?
I'm not saying that this thread should be ignored, or so, but unfortunately we can't stop this. Neither can we stop wars/ murder/ tortures.
Australia kills cows no differently except for the quicker, cleaner machine cut.
harsh but fair.
Well yeh muslim people makes an prayer before cutting the animal's head, one time i went to pakistan, one of my cousin slaughtered goat which was really amazing
