Can I please ask a question?
If I'm regularly donating to DTK, why do I have to sit through the 20 second 'Pinion Pot 'O Shite' garbage at the start of each Office round? I understand sponsors help pay the bills, but if a player is donating regularly, is that really fair?
I'm sure there are free-loaders aplenty here on DTK, but it's really f#*king irritating if I'm chipping in and still have to sit through sponsor garbage...

Donations to dtk are completely voluntary, while we greatly appreciate donations, you do not gain any favor from doing so, and since donations fall far short of paying for all we offer, we still must use advertising to try and even the cost out.

ever think that the everyone who plays the server and sits through the advertisement is effectively 'donating' to dtk. your separate money donations are a bonus.
All money donations do is get Squall new skins for League. I think he's eyeing some new Dr mungo ones...

Exactly, just watching a video that lasts for 20 secs isn't that bad isn't it? Everytime you watch it the more you help DTK. Don't forget how much they do for us. Like providing us with servers to play on!

I will make this very CLEAR now. If you are a DtK member and you have no intention of supporting the community YOU chose to be a part of , I too have no intention of keeping you in it. You have access to the forums to socialize with other people, you have access to multiple servers for your enjoyment , all without any costs to you involved. Even donations are voluntary.
The way our sponsorship used to work and currently works is very different. Previously, we used to get paid every time someone connected to the server and the MOTD window opened. It didn't matter if they watched the ad or not. However effective from this month, the model has changed and we will only be getting paid depending on how long one watches the ads. IF someone skips it in the above manner, we don't get paid. if someone closes the ad prematurely we don't get paid. Judging by previous month numbers, we will be not getting even a fifth of what we get paid usually due to people skipping or bypassing the ads.
We run 2 sets of server boxes. 1 includes all our original servers (gg,dm,JB,etc) which is paid for by the ads (and donations) and a newer box which has the csgo,sk,nilla,etc servers which i pay out of my pocket. Additionally there are hosting costs for the forums ,source bans etc which again is covered by Stig and I. The total cost for running the servers and forums is well over a $1000 a month. To put things into perspective, we received around $50 in donations last month.
The choice is yours guys, whether you want servers to play on or not.

The adverts are fine, I can live with them. Just the one that pops up mid-game is the annoying one. Can lose an entire round of Zombies (some working up to 10 minutes each) because of it.
I play Games 2 Play games not 2 watch ads and a community of this manner if they are really money then they would come out and ask . Although I do not know how much it costs 2 run this many servers and I can understand if there is a need for money . A question for the council ... Is Dtk a hobby or is it Work ?
Need to use AdSense! I was making $300 a month from a website that had no actual content. Put it on the forums and in the motd and you should do well.
It's not about people not wanting to support the community, it's that there are many other ways to contribute that don't cause an inconvenience that delays the purpose of which the community is built for, gaming.
I never skip the add and have never received the add. From what I remember only people that skip the add get the popup.
On topic: 20 seconds is nothing compared to the 20-30 minute game

This is the only problem I have with the ads, MOTD's whatever I had no problem at all, 7 seconds ahh not to big of a wait. This "The Pinion Pot O' Shite" bullshit is ridiculous though, I mean 27 seconds....... Come on, and it was okay during christmas that as well I could understand but it's not christmas anymore. What was wrong with simply having MOTD.
We had adsense at one point however google claimed that we were manipulating the numbers when we weren't and refused to pay us.
My reply was in response to someone telling the public how to bypass the ads. You are enjoying servers at no cost and you are bypassing the ad as well, do you really need to publicize bypass methods on top of that? The ads are nothing new, they have always been there.
If you know of 'other ways' that will help to cover our monthly costs, I'd be most happy to hear of it.
